Durood 🌿 Qur’anic Command Allah ﷻ commands believers to send blessings on the Prophet ﷺ: إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ ۚ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ صَلُّوا۟ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًا“Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe, send blessings upon him and salute him with peace.”— Surah Al-Ahzab (33:56) ⭐ Merits of Reciting Durood Sharif 1. Ten Blessings for One The Prophet ﷺ said:“Whoever sends one Durood upon me, Allah will send ten blessings upon him.”— Sahih Muslim, Book 4, Hadith 408 2. Removal of Sins and Raising of Status The Prophet ﷺ said:“He who sends blessings upon me once, Allah will erase ten of his sins, raise him ten degrees, and send ten mercies upon him.”— Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 8469 3. Dua is Accepted “Every dua is kept back until you send blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ.”— Tirmidhi, Hadith 486 4. Angels Present the Durood “There is no one who sends peace and blessings upon me except that Allah returns my soul to me so I may return his greeting.”— Abu Dawood, Book 10, Hadith 2041 5. Closer to the Prophet ﷺ on the Day of Judgment “The closest people to me on the Day of Judgment will be those who sent the most Durood upon me.”— Tirmidhi, Hadith 484 📜 Stories from the Pious Predecessors (Salaf al-Saliheen) 1. Imam Shafi’i رحمه الله Imam Shafi’i used to say: “I love to send abundant salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ at all times. I prefer it over many acts of worship.” He dedicated portions of his night just to recite Durood and considered it a means of purification of the soul. 2. Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal رحمه الله Once, Imam Ahmad had a problem and could not find a solution. He dreamt of the Prophet ﷺ who said: “O Ahmad, why don’t you send more Durood upon me? Your matter will be solved.” Upon waking, he recited Durood in abundance, and Allah granted him ease and solution quickly. 3. Shaykh Abdur Rahman ibn Nasir Al-Sa’di رحمه الله He was asked the secret to his spiritual insight. He replied: “I never left a day without sending 1000 Durood upon the Prophet ﷺ. That is the door to all light and barakah.” 4. A Merchant’s Story (from “Qasas al-Salihin”) A trader in Baghdad faced bankruptcy and distress. He visited a pious Shaykh, who told him: “Send Durood abundantly upon the Prophet ﷺ — make it your daily routine.” Within days, his situation changed. Unexpected wealth came from an old loan being repaid, and his business revived. 5. A Graveyard Incident A man once saw light emitting from a particular grave. When asked, the grave-digger said: “That man used to send 100 Durood upon the Prophet ﷺ every day.” Such is the honor Allah grants even in the grave to those who honor His Prophet ﷺ. 🕊️ Simple Durood to Recite Regularly Durood Ibrahim (most virtuous) اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ… (Mentioned in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim as the best form) 📌 Tips to Build a Habit 6. Imam Qurtubi رحمه الله and the Dream A student of Imam Qurtubi once saw him in a dream after his death. He asked: “What did Allah do with you?” He replied: “I was forgiven and elevated in rank due to the Durood I used to recite upon the Prophet ﷺ while writing tafsir.” 7. Story of the Butcher A simple butcher used to send 1,000 Durood daily. After his death, many pious people saw him in dreams glowing in light. One dreamer asked: “What benefited you most in the grave?” He said: “The Durood upon Rasulullah ﷺ. I used to do it with love and consistency. That became my salvation.” 8. Al-Habib Umar bin Hafiz حفظه الله In a lecture, he mentioned: “One man used to begin his work every day with 100 Durood. His shop never lacked barakah, even when others were failing. People came to him and trusted him naturally.” 9. A Woman’s Son Revived In one narration, a woman used to send Durood constantly. Her child passed away. She cried and begged Allah through Durood. That night, she saw a dream where the Prophet ﷺ told her: “Your love and Durood reached me. Allah returned your child as a mercy.” She woke up and found her child alive. This incident is mentioned by some scholars of spiritual chains (silsilahs). 10. A Grave that Spoke In a village, a scholar instructed people to recite Durood. Years later, while relocating a grave, they found the body intact and fragrant. The man buried there was known to sit quietly in the masjid after every salah, whispering Durood.
